18,000 pee stops between Mildura and Adelaide

Oh the road stretches on and on! For some reason they're digging up the road every 5cm bewteen Mildura and Adelaide which means it's more of a crawl than a drive, and that means hundreds of pee stops! It's the (half) longest drive in the world...

So after Sam's epic driving we managed to fang it down the highway in time to slide into our Radio Adelaide interview just in the nick of time. Oh and we peed their too...

I dunno why we pee so much on the road. Maybe it's just me (Rosie), or maybe it's actually the road... Whatever the case i can really go hours in Melbourne without a pee but the minute we get in the car I'm a stop every 30minutes type of girl.

Anyway, now we're sitting in the hills of Adelaide, watching chickens play in the back garden, having had some serious fun last night at the Wheaty (in that serious way that fun can be serious).

It was awesome to see how many people came down and warmed up the tin shed out the back with their lovely vibes and body heat... Nothing like hearing Sam's stomp box thumping so hard it's shaking the walls and raising the roof.

One more show in the middle bottom state and then it's road trippin back to Melbourne for me and Sophie, while Sam goes to the desert for ten days to run songwriting workshops.

Then it's on to New South Wales. Got to get a haircut!

Morning glory

Waking up in Mildura is cold but wonderful.
We have lush instant coffee in our room and the sky is a misty grey.
We have a perfect view: the MacDonalds drive thru window... Can i take your order?

Va-room

So here we are in our first (and probably fanciest) motel room for the tour... Mildura welcomed us with open, unvegetarian, arms. After a 7 hour car journey with frequent pee stops, a near collision with a big blue truck (not mentioning any names, hey Soph), and a new version of happy birthday written, we arrived at the Sandbah, ravenous, and ready, only to be told their vegetarian option was a "garden salad". That's more like grass than food.
So, we skipped across the street, stocked up on vegie noodle boxes and swung into our triple room. We're bunking up together tonight, which is fine cos it's the first night. No doubt by the end of the tour we'll be asking for 3 rooms!
So we're getting ready to rock on the sticky carpet stage and it's looking like it'll be a great night.
First night of the tour and the air feels full of promise...
